What is Nourish, and how does it help young people?

Nourish is a coaching and mentoring service designed to support young people in building confidence, resilience, and independence as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. We create a non-judgmental space where young people can explore their goals, develop essential life skills, and gain the tools to make informed decisions about their future. Through one-on-one coaching and group programs, we help youth expand their perspectives, strengthen their emotional well-being, and take meaningful steps toward personal and professional growth.

Who can participate in Nourish’s programs?

Nourish works with young people between the ages of 12 and 26. Some programs will have more specific age ranges to ensure relevance. If you or your child falls outside this range but feel that Nourish would be a good fit, please reach out—we’d be happy to discuss options.

How do I know if coaching/mentoring is right for me or my child?

We understand that choosing to work with a coach or mentor is a personal decision. Whether you’re a young person considering coaching for yourself or a parent wondering if mentoring could support your child, here are a few things to reflect on:

For Young People:
Coaching might be a good fit if you:

  • Want more clarity and confidence about your goals, challenges, or future direction

  • Feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to navigate certain aspects of life

  • Are looking for non-judgmental support and a space to explore ideas, emotions, and possibilities

  • Want to build resilience, independence, and decision-making skills

For Parents & Guardians:
Mentoring can benefit your child if:

  • They are experiencing a big transition (starting high school, university, entering the workforce, or taking a gap year)

  • They could use support in building confidence, resilience, or emotional well-being

  • You want them to have a trusted, objective mentor outside of the family to guide them

  • They are facing stress, uncertainty, or decision-making challenges and would benefit from structured support

The best way to determine if coaching is right for you or your child is through a complimentary exploratory session. This session is a chance to ask questions, understand the process, and see if it’s a good fit. Book a time that suits you here. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to chat!

What topics or areas do you focus on in coaching sessions?

Coaching sessions are tailored to the needs of each young person and may include:

  • Building confidence & self-awareness

  • Managing stress, emotions & resilience

  • Improving communication & relationships

  • Navigating life transitions (school, university, work, gap years, etc.)

  • Developing independence & decision-making skills

  • Exploring goals, passions & future pathways

How long does a typical mentoring relationship last?

The duration varies depending on the individual and their goals. We generally recommend starting with 6–8 sessions because:

  • Building trust takes time – A strong foundation is key to personal growth.

  • Lasting change isn’t instant – Growth, resilience, and behavior shifts require time, reflection, and consistent support.

Some young people benefit from a short-term engagement, while others continue coaching for ongoing development.

Where are the coaching & mentoring sessions held?

Sessions can be held online (via Google Meet or Zoom) or in-person. In-person sessions can take place at the young person’s home or another accessible and comfortable location, such as a quiet café or park. Walking sessions can also be an option, as movement can help foster open conversations.
Group programs are available both online and in person, with locations specified for each program.

How much does the program cost?

Pricing varies based on the type of coaching (individual or group) and the program length. Please reach out for current pricing and package options. We aim to make coaching as accessible as possible and are happy to discuss flexible options.

Can parents or guardians be involved in the process?

Yes. While coaching is youth-centered and fosters building independence, we believe in a collaborative approach that includes supportive adults. Here’s how:

  • Introductory session: A free session with the young person and their parent(s) or guardian(s) to ask questions, learn about the process, and ensure clarity.

  • Midway check-in: A free 20–30 minute session with the young person, parent(s) or guardian(s), and coach. This does not breach the confidentiality of one-on-one sessions but provides an opportunity to share insights and support the process.

We encourage open communication while respecting the young person’s privacy and autonomy.

How can I or my child get started?

The first step is to book a complimentary exploratory session. Click here to schedule a time that works for you. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out—we’d love to connect!

What is the difference between a coach, counselor, and therapist?

While coaches, counselors, and therapists all provide valuable support, their approaches are different:

  • Therapists & counselors help individuals process and heal from past trauma, emotional challenges, and mental health issues.

  • Coaches focus on the present and future, helping individuals build confidence, set goals, and take action toward personal growth.

Coaching is not a replacement for therapy. If at any point it becomes clear that a young person would benefit from additional mental health support, we will discuss this and help connect them to the appropriate resources.
